Fishy Business

Last week our director Robert Furey had the opportunity to go on a fact-finding mission aboard fishing trawler ‘The Kirkella’.
This visit was organised by Collins Seafood and along with Florigo, Graham Kennedy of award-winning Bells also attended.
As we all know the price of fish is climbing and this visit provided the opportunity to understand the great efforts that the fishing industry are putting in to ensure improved quality, better packaging and ultimately a higher standard of product to the customer.
Aboard this vast vessel is a full factory operation where fish is graded, cut, packed and frozen within 2 hours of being caught giving you the freshest fish possible. This means you can serve your customers a consistent quality product every time.
This huge trawler specialises in catching cod and haddock and can net an impressive 2.3 million fish per trip.
The Kirkella has headed back out to sea and will be back in June with it’s latest catch of fish, ready to be served during the summer holidays!
