National Fish and Chip Day is a celebration of a treasured UK dish and the people who create it for us. One of these dens of golden delicacies is Merchants Fish Bar in Bewdley, a fish and chip shop and fish restaurant located right on the bank of the River Severn. This year we combined this day of celebrating the nations favourite takeaway with also trying to raise money for an incredibly worthy cause.
James McDonald from the Service team went to visit a long-standing Florigo customer last week, William Rowe from W J Rowe Fish and Chips in Stevenage. William has been running his shop in the fish and chip industry since 1992! With plenty of experience and fish and chip trade wisdom, James grabbed the opportunity to find out more.
Lauren Kellaway from Kellaways Fish and Chips has had a very successful year, she has managed to make the Top 6 for the Drywite Young Fish Frier Award. Being a finalist has provided many fantastic opportunities for Lauren. Therefore, in light of the upcoming awards, we wanted to have a chat with Lauren about her experiences so far with the judging process, and life in general for a young fish frier!
Mark Drummond is an influential figure in the Fish & Chip industry. Winning multiple awards, Mark has become a fountain of Fish & Chip knowledge, so of course, we grabbed an opportunity to have a chat with him prior to the upcoming 2019 Fish & Chip Awards.
Last week I went to visit Dan Lafford at Malt & Anchor. Malt & Anchor is an award-winning restaurant going into its third year. With another nomination in the upcoming 2019 Fish & Chip Awards for Best Restaurant, Malt & Anchor keep going from strength to strength.
