Cheesy chips! What’s the obsession?

Today (January 20th) is National Cheese Lovers Day! A day designated to the people that love cheese. Squeezy, grated, melted, it doesn’t matter what form it comes in, us Brits love the stuff.

Cheesy chips are one of life’s little indulgences. It mixes two of Britain’s favourite foods and is the perfect comfort treat, ideal for a late-night snack walking home from the pub. It’s also no surprise that the UK’s favourite cheese is Cheddar, which when grated is the perfect companion for chips.

All you have to do is Google Cheesy Chips and it comes up with restaurants and fish and chip shops that sell cheesy chips in your local area.

Cheesy Chips is clearly a fantastic and well-loved combination especially in the South West of England where 20% go for the topping.

If you don’t already offer cheesy chips, it might be worth considering it. You can add it as an extra like you would curry sauce and mushy peas.

You can also satisfy your cheese loving customers by adding Halloumi Fries or Mozzarella Sticks.

Keep it British or mix it up?

Some of the best ideas can come from our friends from across the Atlantic. The Canadians have a similar love of cheesy chips as us Brits, however, they go one step further and add gravy. The popular dish is called Poutine and is as Canadian as Maple Syrup.
