Click & Collect – It isn’t a Temporary Measure!
Even if you have no plans to re-open your business until the lockdown measures have been lifted, any forward thinking shop will have developed a Click & Collect service as part of their ongoing offering.
It’s Here to Stay!
We believe that even after Coronavirus is a distant memory, Click & Collect will become one of the preferred ordering methods to avoid queuing.
Don’t see it as an extra thing to do!
Don’t look at Click & Collect as just another thing for you to have to do within your business. You are not paying anyone to take the order, you are not paying anyone to take the payment. You just need to wrap it and hand it over in the safest way possible.
Use this time to really hone the process and get it nailed. Then if you choose to move onto a delivery platform at a later date, it will be a much easier transition.
Handover Options
You will see different shops operating the handover process in different ways.
At this moment in time, we still recommend that you do not have the public come into the shop. Some shops are installing screens as a barrier between the server and the public however the extraction in the shop will be sucking air particles through the gap at the bottom and over the top of the screen. This will create a vortex in front of the server and is putting them at risk of any potentially infected particles in the air.
We recommend to have a collection station in your doorway for swift handovers based on timed collections or include vehicle details on your Click & Collect system and then handover into the vehicle on arrival with minimal contact.
Don’t be scared to charge more!
We believe that the public WILL pay a premium for a Click & Collect service.
This is just another way for your business to reach out to the customer and there is no better time to get this in place than now. Once honed and running smoothly, this service could become at least 10% of your business at a premium price.
