For most 16 year olds, this is the time of year when the main focus is on doing your GCSEs but for Caroline Furey not only is she sitting her exams, she has also competed for her country in the European Triathlon Championships in Kitzbühel, Austria!
Taking part in the Under 20s category, Caroline took part in a gruelling 750m swim, 20k bike ride and 5k run and has proudly invested in a ‘Team GB’ specialist tri suit. Although it was a very challenging race with pouring rain and a very hard course with steep inclines which she had never cycled before, she did extremely well and came in 12th in her category and was the 4th GB home. More importantly she thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience!
Caroline has had to fit her training around her GCSEs: in fact she sat a Chemistry exam the morning of her flight out to Austria and had to face two more exams the day after she came back!
